YOU, Master of the Universes

The most recent scientific results leads the world’s scientists to be very, very sure that we live in multiple universes not just one which exist at the same time. This won’t be a technical article, because, frankly, I’m not technical. But it is based on actual science, if you are interested there will be some resources at the end of the article for you to check out.

Other than science fiction name, what is it and why are scientists so excited about these theories? It all comes down to some very strange things involving time travel, changing the past and teleportation. Scientists have been split between the quantum world view and Einsteins’ views, based on two different sets of results from observiing different aspects of how things work. In Newton’s time, when the laws of gravity were first described, the universe was seen almost like a clock, with each part connecting in a static and unchanging manner with the other parts. During the late 1880′s the scientific world felt they had learned all there was to learn. Lord Kelvin even went as far as to predict the end of science in a few years.

In a curious synchronicity, the First World War started in 1914 and 1915 Einstein’s paper on General Relatvity started off another kind of war in the world of physics. However, for the Newtonian world-view sciences discoveries were showing some large gaps in the theory after 300 years. As science got better at observing distant stars, the idea of a static universe became harder to maintain in the face of the results of observing an expanding universe. Einstein’s theory basically stated that time and space were part of the same thing. In the past time and space were seen as separate and unconnected, this theory changed all that. Einstein’s research into the anomalies of the Newtonian world led him to the surprising conclusion that space and time are related and interact with gravity. Another famous physicist, John Wheeler, put it like this: “Time is what prevents everything from happening at once”. Einstein noted “Time is not at all what it seems. It does not flow in only one direction, and the future exists simultaneously”.

Currently there are two views in the world of physics, based on different models of how things work, the quantum view and the Einsteinian. The search to find a Unified Theory is intense, and the multiverse figures very prominently in this search.  Physicists dream of this. But at the quantum level (very, very small scale where bits of atoms are studied) really weird things happen and no one can account for gravity. In the world we perceive, Einstein’s theories fit observed reality very well indeed, but not at the quantum level. It is only from Einstein onwards that time and space are linked in Western physics,in the East this was another matter. Until recently, when the theories of the multiverse and string theory come in.

This is fine for the physicists, but what practical use is it? Physicists, theologans, priests and philosophers have been arguing about these kinds of things forever and it didn’t make much difference did it? Our entire field of perception is made up from a mixture of emotional filters, beliefs and opinions based on past events which determines what we are willing to accept now.

Goes against “common sense”, doesn’t it? An example may help at this point, when Columbus’s ships arrived in the New World, the Native Americans could not see them. Why? Were they somehow stupider than the average bear? No, they simply had absolutely no frame of reference for something of that kind. They had no way to understand or process what they saw, so the brain discarded the information. Who would have thought it? We only actually use about 5% (sight, sound, touch, etc.) is what’s left after our “filters” have processed everything. What happens to the rest of the data our senses receive? It gets junked. Why? How? We process all this information through a series of “filters” some of it is physiological, some of it emotional and some mental but it all adds up to seeing what we expect to see. Ever had the experience where you can see something clearly, but a friend or relative cannot? How about the other way around? If you look again, the “new” thing you see, was always there, you just didn’t see it. Imagine you’ve had a fight with a friend, later you discover something new about the situation that changes your point of view totally. Have you ever had an experience like that?

What does all this have to do with the multiverse? What scientists know for a fact, is that consciousness influences every aspect of the Universe. In experiment after experiment, it has been proven time and again that the observer of the experiment alters the outcome based on their expectations. Particles called photons (which are the basic building blocks of matter) when transported (like in “Star Trek”) into not one, but two locations they behave identically every time. Scientists call it Quatum Entanglement. Einstein called it “spooky”. I’ll go with Einstein’s name. Photons are light, but now scientists have teleported an iridium atom which is one of the heaviest atoms. Until recently, only protons, which are the simplest forms of matter have been moved this way. Iridium atoms are pretty dense, they do not rust and can withstand temperatures of over 2,000C. It is a long way from a new form of travel for us. But in fact, what these experiments are not showing is that things travel. The simplest answer is usually true and in this case, the simplest answer is that particles are connected always. The particles are holograms which explains how they stay connected. Holograms contain a “memory” of the whole being or thing in every part of it. Sounds nuts? Have you seen a laser hologram? No? Do you remember in the first Star Wars movie where Luke Skywalker sees a 3D image of Princess Leia? That’s a laser hologram. You are full of holograms already. DNA is a biological hologram. DNA is the code of life and it contains all the information about what makes each of us unique. The DNA in your body is the same in all cells. It has been shown that a type of cell called a “stem” cell can turn into any other kind of cell. So there really is only one type of cell, they just become more specialized. Stem cells usually specialize very soon, so here is something interesting, the skin and brain are formed from the same stem cells. Well, the implications of that are a whole other set of articles.

It’s more fun in the multiverse with strangely behaved particles. Let’s pretend that somehow, these sub-atomic particles are people in your world. Now, if some of them did really weird things like time travel, be in more than one place at the time, affect the past and more weirdness, you’d be at the very least, interested in how they did that, right? If we are all made of the same stuff and some bits can do some things others cannot, then the only difference must be in something they know, right? Perhaps the only difference is the beliefs that they have about what is possible. Recall the story about the Native Americans not seeing the ships? Remember the 5% that you do see? If you change your perception, how much more would you see? What would your new awareness allow you to do?

Well, that was fun, but when are we going to get the multiverse thing out of the way? Well, to account for all the weirdness at the quantum level, scientists believe (interesting word that) there are multiple universes existing all at the same time. What if every person who has come into your life, or event is something from another universe? Here’s a challenge, can you prove this statement wrong? People were imprisoned for raising the question the world was not flat. How many people have come into your life at different times and may have had a big impact on you, but then went out of your life. They have died in this universe, or just simply moved out of your life. What if each of those people actually was in a universe of their own and like they were a “bit actor” in the movie of your life, they are the lead actor in the movie of theirs. Let’s try an experiment. Are you willing? Let’s pretend this is true for five seconds. History is full of people who because they believed passionately in something, for example, Mahatma Gandhi, changed their world. How about you, what could you change? You are already a master of multiple universes, so how can minuscule issues in your life be compared to the power to move universes? We can use these universal principles to change the life we lead for the better. Want to know how to truly harness them easily?
