It took quite a few years but Emily at long last made up her mind that she had it with her husband’s excessive and unhealthy drinking. She was weary from seeing Barry come home after midnight from drinking instead of spending time with her and their two sons. She was also tired of the DUI Barry recently received. Additionally she was drained from making justifications for her spouse when he couldn’t make it to work on a regular basis due to his problems with drinking. In a similar manner she was apprehensive about the fact that their relationship was deteriorating due to Barry’s excessive and hazardous drinking. And finally she was weary from the shaky financial jam into which he had placed his family because of his abusive and unhealthy drinking behavior.

When Hazardous and Abusive Drinking Inspires a Person to do Something Beneficial About an Individual’s Problem Drinking

One Monday morning when Emily was reflecting on what she could do about her husband’s careless and abusive drinking, she got to the point that she frankly had to do something to cut into the harmful cycle of Barry’s hazardous and excessive drinking behavior.

So she looked on the web under “alcohol treatment” and discovered more than a few rehabilitation facilities that were all located less than 30 miles away from where her husband and she resided.

Due to the fact that she didn’t know a lot about these treatment facilities, she eventually decided that she needed to call some of them and ask some important questions. When she called each rehabilitation facility she identified who she was and stated that Barry, her spouse, was exhibiting unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. She also mentioned that her spouse had a top-rate health insurance program at his place of employment and that inpatient or outpatient alcohol abuse rehab would be covered if a health care professional in the company health program recommended the rehab.

At one rehab clinic, Emily was stunned that she was able to communicate directly with a doctor who suggested that she come to the rehab clinic to describe her husband’s unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior in much more detail.

Emily Talks to a Therapist About Her Husband’s Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking

When Emily got to the rehabilitation facility, she filled out some necessary paperwork and then almost immediately got to see a healthcare professional.

After listening to Emily discuss her husband’s careless and abusive drinking, the counselor in an encouraging but resolute way told Emily how she probably contributed to her spouse’s abusive and hazardous drinking through the years by minimizing his drinking behavior rather than allowing him to suffer the results of his abusive drinking behavior.

Emily Finds Out She Has Been Enabling Her Husband’s Excessive and Irresponsible Drinking

Stated somewhat more forcefully, the physician stated to Emily that she may have been unintentionally enabling Barry’s unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior. The doctor also emphasized the fact that while Emily would not be able to control her husband’s conduct, with the guidance and encouragement of the treatment team at the rehabilitation center she would not only be able to learn how to refrain from contributing to Barry’s negative drinking but she would also be able to learn how to help him make an appointment at the rehabilitation facility so that he could go over his abusive and careless drinking behavior with a physician.

The good news was that after Emily explained this to Barry, and he saw that she was not joking, Barry told her that he had been extremely concerned about his excessive and careless drinking behavior and that he was somewhat pleased to know that Emily wanted to do something beneficial about his excessive and abusive drinking behavior. As a result, he scheduled an appointment to see a physician at the local alcohol treatment facility.

Barry Agrees to Meet With a Doctor About His Careless and Excessive Drinking

While simply calling a rehabilitation clinic does not ensure that an individual’s abusive and careless drinking behavior will become less problematic or that one’s warning signs of alcoholism or the alcohol abuse signs one manifests will simply go away, scheduling an appointment is certainly a vital aspect in the rehabilitation process. And since Barry was serious about getting help for his drinking problems, the probability for a successful recovery was considerably enhanced.

It took more than a few years but Emily eventually made up her mind that she had it with her husband’s unhealthy drinking. She was tired of seeing Barry come home in the early hours of the morning from drinking instead of spending quality time with her and the children. She was also drained from the second DUI Barry recently got. Additionally she was fed up from creating reasons for her husband when he couldn’t make it to work on time due to his problems with drinking. Not only this but she was nervous about the fact that their relationship was deteriorating due to Barry’s abusive drinking. And finally she was weary from the hazardous financial jam into which he had put his family due to his abusive and careless drinking behavior.

When Excessive and Hazardous Drinking Inspires a Person to do Something Affirmative About an Individual’s Problem Drinking

One Wednesday afternoon when Emily was thinking about what she could do about her husband’s unhealthy and abusive drinking, she got to the point that she honestly had to do something positive to cut into the destructive cycle of Barry’s hazardous and excessive drinking behavior.

So she looked on the web under “alcohol treatment” and located several rehabilitation centers that were all located less than twenty miles away from where her husband and she lived.

Since she didn’t know a great deal about these rehab clinics, she finally made up her mind to call some of them and ask some important questions. When she called each treatment facility she identified who she was and stated that Barry, her spouse, was manifesting careless and excessive drinking behavior. She also articulated that her husband had a top quality health insurance program at work and that outpatient or residential alcohol abuse rehab would be covered if a doctor in the company health network authorized the treatment.

At one treatment facility, Emily was amazed that she was able to communicate directly with a counselor who asked her to come to the office to talk about her husband’s unhealthy and abusive drinking behavior in much greater detail.

Emily Talks to a Therapist About Her Husband’s Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking

When Emily got to the rehabilitation facility, she filled out some necessary paperwork and then after about ten or fifteen minutes got to see a physician.

After listening to Emily talk about her husband’s abusive and excessive drinking, the psychologist in an accommodating but resolute manner explained to Emily how she may have adding to her spouse’s hazardous and excessive drinking through the months and the years by making excuses for him instead of letting him experience the outcomes of his hazardous drinking behavior.

Emily Discovers She Has Been Enabling Her Husband’s Abusive Drinking

Stated another way, the physician stated to Emily that she may have been unintentionally enabling Barry’s excessive and hazardous drinking behavior. The psychologist also underlined the fact that although Emily could not control her husband’s behavior, with the support and encouragement of the treatment team at the rehabilitation facility she would not only be able to learn how to abstain from contributing to Barry’s careless and abusive drinking but she could also learn how to motivate him to make an appointment at the rehabilitation center so that he could discuss his excessive and abusive drinking behavior with a counselor.

Fortunately after Emily discussed this with her husband, and he saw that she was serious, Barry told her that he had been quite concerned about his hazardous drinking behavior and that he was quite thankful to learn that Emily wanted to do something beneficial about his careless drinking behavior. As a consequence, he made an appointment to see a therapist at the local alcohol rehabilitation facility.

Barry Agrees to Meet With a Doctor About His Abusive and Hazardous Drinking

While simply calling a rehabilitation clinic does not mean that an individual’s hazardous and careless drinking behavior will stop or that one’s warning signs of alcoholism or the alcohol abuse signs one displays will simply vanish, making an appointment is clearly an essential feature in the rehabilitation process. And since Barry was serious about getting treatment for his harmful drinking, the likelihood of a successful recovery was substantially augmented.

Jerry and Sarah have been married for six years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they deliberately constructed an extremely vibrant social life.

The chief difficulty, however, is that almost everything they do to have fun includes drinking. As an illustration, all of the family get-togethers, happy hours, dinner engagements, sporting events, and parties with friends they frequent are related to drinking.

Sarah and Jerry Start to Observe Some Instantly Noticeable Alcohol Related Difficulties That are Without a Doubt Related to Their Excessive Drinking

If they were casual drinkers, this wouldn’t be a big deal. Since they drink in an excessive manner, nevertheless, they are starting to perceive some obvious alcohol-related problems in their lives.

For example, a short time ago Jerry was placed under arrest for his first DWI and has been shirking responsibilities at work due to alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Jerry’s last two performance reviews at work have been less than acceptable and he has begun to fail to recall what he does or says while he drinks. Lastly, Jerry has been having sleep-related problems and his family has begun to show concern about his drinking situation.

In a similar way, Sarah has been feeling disheartened with things in her life and to cope with this, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past four years. Not only this, but Sarah has been experiencing quite a few throbbing migraine headaches and going through severe hangovers due to her drinking. Lastly, Sarah has been feeling appreciably less energetic when she awakens in the morning, she has been getting to work late every Monday, and she has been getting some strong criticism from her relatives, friends, family members, and coworkers about her heavy drinking.

Watching the Television and Flipping the Channels and Finding A TV Special About the Signs of Alcohol Dependency

One Saturday evening while watching the television, Sarah and Jerry inadvertently discovered an enchanting program about the signs of alcoholism.

This television documentary was a real shock to Sarah and Jerry because numerous alcoholism signs that were highlighted gave them the impression that they were directly related to several of the alcohol-related drinking problems Sarah and Jerry had been going through.

A Candid Conversation About Drinking Circumstances Unearths Alcohol Related Health, Financial, Relationship, Legal, and Employment Problems

After watching the TV documentary, Sarah and Jerry decided to have an honest conversation about their drinking circumstances. They both agreed that most, if not all, of their social pursuits were related to drinking, that they were drinking in an abusive manner, and that as a couple, they were beginning to see alcohol related financial, employment, legal, relationship, and health problems for the first time since they were married.

With thoughts of the television documentary still imprinted in her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been displaying could mean that they are alcoholic or perhaps becoming alcohol dependent. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the nearby drug and alcohol rehab clinic to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking issues.

Facing Your Drinking Issues Just May Decrease Your Fear and Give You Some Serenity

Ironically, even though their drinking situation hadn’t yet changed, it was clear to see that Jerry and Sarah were at least focusing on their drinking problems, they were ready to find out more about their drinking situation, and they were interested in discovering how they could notably reduce or do away with the alcohol-related issues that had begun to get worse.

When Jerry and Sarah went to bed that evening, they decided that the next morning, Jerry would call and make an appointment for both of them at the alcohol abuse rehabilitation clinic located just East of the State Capital. After they made a promise to one another that they would do whatever it takes to cope with the alcohol-related problems that had manifested themselves in their lives, they truly had the most revitalizing night’s sleep they could think of in the last seven months.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and noted how easy it is to decrease one’s trepidation and in point of fact experience a sense of calm by handling one’s problems with conviction and making a decision to do something positive about them.

Mr. Blake was one of the health lecturers at a medium size countryside junior high school in the Western part of the United States. For “Alcohol Comprehension Month” he came to a decision that he would consider focusing on the following three topics for a class assignment: alcoholism symptoms alcoholism statistics, and alcoholics info.

After Mr. Blake completed the topics that would be dispensed to his pupils, he made up his mind that he would furnish them with their assignment the following Thursday morning.

When “assignment day” finally arrived, Mr. Blake met with the students in his classroom, dispersed some applicable research data, and then notified his pupils about the topics he picked.

Why It Is Essential to Gain Knowledge and Learn How to Associate Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholics Info, and Alcoholism Statistics with Real-Life Circumstances of People Who Are Alcohol Dependent

He then gave his students a synopsis of some significant alcoholism statistics and alcohol dependency signs and symptoms and noted how essential it is to learn how to link these statistics, symptoms, and facts with the day-to-day situations of alcoholics. He then gave his pupils a concise explanation about the importance of learning more about alcohol addicted individuals and how they exist on a daily basis.

Mr. Blake notified the members of his class that they could focus on one of the three topics or discuss all three topics and how they are interconnected. In actual fact this would be analogous to a simple summary but done in a more far-reaching way.

Another option that he gave to his pupils was the following: choose a topic such as alcohol addiction signs and symptoms, research things in a more far-reaching manner, and then discuss four or five symptoms and signs. Mr. Blake then stated that the same logic applies to the other two topics, namely, alcoholism statistics and alcoholics info.

The end result of their research would be a eight thousand word composition and then a fifteen minute oral presentation that would be given in front of the class.

Presenting The Outcome of An Academic Investigation at the Community Substance Abuse Convention

As a reward for their extraordinary academic accomplishment, the students with the top three overall grades on the essay and on the presentation will be encouraged to present the findings from their investigation at the district substance abuse symposium during the last four days of January.

After the students in the class got the information about their assignment, more than a few of them raised their hands and asked for a demonstration or an illustration of a sub-topic that they could consider focusing on for their assignment.

In reply, Mr. Blake decided that he would succinctly talk about three or four alcohol dependency symptoms and signs that the pupils could develop.

As an example, Mr. Blake gave emphasis to the following alcoholism symptoms and signs: an obsession with drinking, cloudy thinking, loss of control, and boasting and a “big shot” complex.

Articulating How Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholics Info, and Alcoholism Statistics Disclose Themselves in the Life of an Alcohol Addicted Individual

After articulating these alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, Mr. Blake then informed the students in the class that they could do some extra investigation on each symptom, gather some relevant information, give a number of examples of each symptom or sign, and articulate how each symptom or sign is exhibited in the life of an alcohol addicted individual.

As affirmed by Mr. Blake, due to the fact that there are more than a few alcohol dependency symptoms and signs to select, he remarked that he was not awfully anxious about different students picking the same signs and symptoms for their class project.

Without a doubt, even if more than one student was to opt for identical symptoms and signs, the illustrations that are associated with each symptom or sign would clearly add enough multiplicity to steer clear of several pupils presenting identical content.

Mr. Blake then talked about the fact that while there are many alcoholism signs and symptoms that could be picked, the total number of alcohol dependency statistics and facts that could be talked about were practically inexhaustible. When the topic of alcoholics info was added to the discussion, furthermore, the students in the classroom realized quite quickly that the three topics would supply an immense amount of information from which to choose.

Why Mr. Blake Selected Alcoholism Symptoms, Alcoholics Info, and Alcoholism Statistics as the Topics For This Project

Why did Mr. Blake opt for alcoholism symptoms, alcoholics info, and alcoholism statistics as the topics for this undertaking? Mr. Blake’s goal was that by requiring all of his students to investigate one or more of the three alcoholism topics, all the pupils would have a better perception of a complex yet significant topic such as alcohol dependency.

Mr. Blake also thought that by increasing the understanding of his students about the debilitating effects of alcohol addiction and the miserable lifestyles suffered by alcohol addicted people, his students might think more sensibly before they get caught up in abusive and irresponsible drinking behavior.

Just two weeks ago, Frank applied for a job as a bouncer at one of the local clubs. He had studied judo, karate, gatka, aikido, and ninjitsu for ten years; he was a body builder; he took daily vitamins, supplements, and minerals; he was into healthy eating and health foods; and he seemed well matched for such a position. If truth be told, due to the fact that he was concerned about his health, he started drinking in moderation approximately three years ago and then totally quit drinking alcohol around fourteen months ago.

When Frank received notice that he had been hand picked for the job, he was very satisfied. Since this was a special discotheque, nevertheless, he had to go through a four week instructional class.

People At Nightspots Who Drink In a Hazardous Manner and Alcohol Poisoning Symptoms and Signs

On the first day of class, the trainer started talking about individuals who drink in an abusive manner and what the barmaids, bouncers, and bartenders should do when this state of affairs arises. When the instructor started discussing alcohol poisoning, Frank was delighted to find out that all of the new bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers had to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they observed a person who was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms or manifesting the signs of alcohol poisoning.

More precisely, all the new bouncers, barmaids, and bartenders learned that nausea and vomiting were almost without exception the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was almost certainly the most highly identifiable alcohol poisoning symptom or sign. The teacher also made it a point to accentuate the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were messages from the brain and from the body that the person has ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.

There were, nevertheless, more than a few other symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning that all the new bouncers, bartenders, and barmaids were trained to be aware of. For instance, the students in the class discovered that people with alcohol poisoning exhibit confusion, often have seizures, exhibit poor reflex responses, and they are difficult to awaken.

Additionally, the class members were made aware that many drinkers who have alcohol poisoning also display slow, shallow or irregular breathing; blue tinged or pale skin; slurred speech; and little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching.

In addition, individuals who suffer from alcohol poisoning normally exhibit an inability to make eye contact or sustain a conversation, they usually feel very ill and exhibit excessive vomiting, they often display erratic behavior, and they often pass out.

A Trainer Explains Why An Alcohol Overdose is Not Necessarily Suffered Only by Alcohol Addicted People.

The teacher then made it clear that alcohol poisoning is not inevitably experienced only by alcoholics.

More precisely, the trainer explained to the students in the class that most cases of alcohol poisoning were almost certainly experienced by abusive drinkers and that a special form of alcohol abuse known as “binge drinking” was possibly the main precipitating factor in most situations involving alcohol poisoning. The trainer then defined binge drinking as follows: ingesting five or more alcoholic drinks at one sitting for males and drinking four or more alcoholic beverages at one sitting for females.

To stress the impact that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the trainer told the class members that a drinker who gets drunk just once every year, is by definition engaging in alcohol abuse, is in all probability not an alcoholic, but is in all likelihood engaging in binge drinking. As declared by the teacher, engaging in binge drinking even once, sadly, can lead to alcohol poisoning that in some circumstances can be fatal.

The Instructor Give Details Why Letting A Drinker With an Alcohol Overdose Sleep is Not The Best Plan of Action

One of the members of the class raised her hand and asked the instructor if it is a good idea to let a person with alcohol poisoning “sleep it off.” The trainer stated that letting a person with alcohol poisoning go to sleep is explicitly what should not be done because doing so places the person at risk due to the fact that he or she is no longer being observed. In addition, letting the individual go to sleep when he or she experiences alcohol poisoning is an erroneous response because the drinker may never awaken.

The teacher then told the class that the most appropriate response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that a drinker has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the person is underage. By following this plan of action, the person will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she requires.

Conclusion

After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Frank realized that he had learned some crucial information that might save a person’s life in the foreseeable future. In actual fact, Frank learned that knowledge of the typical alcohol poisoning signs and symptoms and knowing how to quickly and appropriately respond to such symptoms and signs (by immediately calling 911 and asking for emergency medical assistance) can help a person avoid a deadly case of alcohol poisoning.

For several years alcohol addiction exploration has demonstrated the fact that there is strong linkage between alcoholism and dangerous health conditions.

For instance, in 2005, scientific examination revealed that alcohol abuse and alcoholism cost the United States an estimated $220 billion per year. It can be stressed that this considerable alcohol-related cash outlay was significantly more than the cost associated with cancer ($196 billion) or with obesity ($133 billion). While it is important to stress these facts, it is also noteworthy to emphasize the point that an interrelationship exists between all three of these health conditions.

More accurately, chronic alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency are also highly associated with obesity and with cancer.

Indeed, substance abuse research has shown that alcohol dependency can boost the risk for different forms of cancer, especially cancer of the kidneys, rectum, colon, voice box (larynx), esophagus, throat, and the liver. Hazardous and recurring drinking can also lead to immune system issues and deformity to the fetus during pregnancy.

Irresponsible and Excessive Drinking Destabilizes the Drinker’s Systems and Organs

What is more, if alcohol addiction continues over a period of years, the individual’s body organs will more likely than not be affected in a negative manner. For instance, repeated, abusive drinking is especially hurtful to the liver due to the fact that the liver does most of the work of processing the alcohol that has been consumed. Unwarranted amounts of alcohol kills liver cells and obliterates the ability of liver cells to regenerate. This medical circumstance results in a progressive inflammatory malfunction of the liver that can ultimately lead to cirrhosis of the liver, a critical and potentially incurable medical problem.

Excessive, long-term drinking not only can result in dangerous liver damage, but it can also result in damage to the heart and to the brain. Physical damage this serious may be irreversible and may, in turn, result in serious disease or premature death.

The Importance of Alcohol Treatment

It is essential, as a result, to know how to identify the different alcohol dependency signs and symptoms so that the alcohol addicted individual can be given the opportunity to seek the quality alcohol treatment he or she requires.

Alcohol Addiction and Sophisticated Brain Research

Fortuitously, scientific investigation is continuously unearthing new and significant information. Recent alcoholism exploration supplies a first-rate illustration. More precisely, for roughly the past ten years, technologically advanced brain-imaging scanning devices have verified that continuous and long lasting hazardous drinking transforms the configuration of the brain to a substantial extent, thusly resulting in brain disease that can last months, years, or possibly as long as the person exists.

Stated differently, medical investigation has shown that individuals who have been drinking in an irresponsible manner for a considerable length of time increase their risk for developing lasting and serious adaptations in the brain.

This type of damage may be directly related to the alcohol’s effects on the brain, to severe liver disease, or might be indirectly associated with the drinker’s poor overall health.

Mental Disorders, Malnutrition, and Abusive Drinking

As a final example of different health problems that are considerably correlated to alcoholism, take into consideration the fact that in accordance with scientific research, the excessive and repeated abuse of alcohol can lead to erosive gastritis, a medical condition that reduces the absorption of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals.

This kind of organ failure is linked to malnutrition and to an assortment of serious neurological and mental syndromes including memory loss, sleep disturbances, and psychosis such as Wernicke’s Encephalopathy and Korsakoff’s syndrome. This latter medical problem is a long lasting incapacitating health problem that is epitomized by recurring learning and memory problems.

Summary

It is clear that repetitive, hazardous drinking is directly or indirectly correlated with a number of critical medical conditions that can and do result in serious illness and premature death. Such information needs to be stressed and presented to everyone in our society so that a multitude of individuals will be able to refrain from irresponsible drinking while other people who have a drinking problem will get the professional therapy they require.

Jerry and Sarah have been married for three years. They wanted to experience some fun and excitement before they decided to have children and so they purposely fashioned an extraordinarily active social life.

The principal issue, it needs to be highlighted, is that almost everything they do with their family and friends is associated with drinking. As an illustration, all of the happy hours, sporting events, parties with friends, family get-togethers, and dinner engagements they attend include drinking.

Jerry and Sarah Begin to Become Aware of Some Noticeable Alcohol Related Issues That are Related to Their Abusive Drinking

If they were responsible drinkers, this wouldn’t be such a big problem. Because they drink rather heavily, nevertheless, they are starting to become aware of some instantly noticeable alcohol-related issues in their lives.

For example, just six days ago Jerry was apprehended by the police for a second DUI and has been ignoring responsibilities at work because of alcohol-related health issues. Not only this, but Jerry’s last two performance assessments at his place of employment have been less than creditable and he has started to fail to remember what he says or does when he drinks. Finally, Jerry has been experiencing sleep-related problems and his family is starting to agonize over his drinking problems.

Sarah, on the other hand, has been feeling dejected with things in her life and to cope with these feelings, she has been drinking more habitually than any time in the past eight months. Furthermore, Sarah has been experiencing more than a few headaches and having very bad hangovers due to her drinking. As a final point, Sarah has been feeling much less energetic in the morning, she has been getting to work late every Monday, and she has been receiving some unsympathetic criticism from her family members, coworkers, friends, and relatives about her abusive drinking.

Watching the TV and Inadvertently Discovering An Interesting Documentary About the Signs of Alcohol Addiction

One Thursday evening while watching the television, Sarah and Jerry without any planning whatsoever discovered an out-of-the-ordinary program about the signs of alcoholism.

This TV special was a real bombshell to Sarah and Jerry because several of the alcoholism signs that were talked about appeared as if they were undeniably linked to many of the alcohol-related drinking problems Jerry and Sarah had been experiencing.

An Open Talk About Drinking Circumstances Discloses Alcohol Related Health, Legal, Employment, Relationship, and Financial Problems

After watching the television documentary, Sarah and Jerry arrived at a decision to have a forthright dialogue about their drinking behavior. They both were in agreement that most, if not all, of their social pursuits somehow included drinking, that they were drinking irresponsibly, and that as a couple, they were starting to make note of alcohol related employment, legal, health, relationship, and financial problems for the first time since they were married.

With thoughts of the television documentary still running through her mind, Sarah asked Jerry if some of the alcohol addiction signs they have been exhibiting could be an indication that they are addicted to alcohol or conceivably becoming alcohol dependent. Jerry didn’t know the answer to Sarah’s inquiry and so he suggested that they schedule an appointment with one of the therapists at the local drug and alcohol rehabilitation clinic to find out more about the gravity of their drinking problems.

Coming to Terms With Your Drinking Difficulties Just May Lessen Your Trepidation and Give You A Sense of Calm

Paradoxically, even though their drinking circumstances hadn’t yet changed, it was apparent that Jerry and Sarah were at the very least facing their drinking problems, they were enthusiastic about finding out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could significantly lessen or get rid of the drinking-related difficulties that had begun to deteriorate.

When Sarah and Jerry went to bed that night, they decided that the next day, Jerry would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment facility located in the next town. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to triumph over the drinking problems that had become apparent in their lives, they in point of fact had the most revitalizing night’s sleep they could recall in the last six weeks.

Just before she fell asleep, Sarah turned to Jerry and mentioned how simple it is to lessen one’s fear and truly experience a sense of calm by attending to one’s problems straight on and coming to a decision to do something constructive about them.

Just a few days ago, Frank applied for a position as a bouncer at one of the local clubs. He had studied karate, ninjitsu, judo, gatka, and aikido for thirteen years; he was a weight lifter; he took daily vitamins, supplements, and minerals; he was into health foods and healthy eating; and he seemed well matched for such a job. If truth be told, since he was concerned about his health, he started drinking in moderation around three years ago and then totally quit drinking alcohol approximately sixteen months ago.

When Frank received the announcement that he had been selected for the job, he was especially delighted. Due to the fact that this was an exclusive nightclub, nevertheless, he had to go through a three week training class.

Individuals At Clubs Who Drink In an Abusive Manner and Alcohol Overdose Signs and Symptoms

On the first day of class, the instructor started talking about drinkers who drink abusively and what the bartenders, barmaids, and bouncers should do when this situation arises. When the lecturer started speaking about alcohol poisoning, Frank was happy to learn that all of the new bartenders, bouncers, and barmaids were required to learn about alcohol poisoning and what they should do when they spotted a individual who was exhibiting alcohol poisoning symptoms or exhibiting the signs of alcohol poisoning.

More precisely, all the new barmaids, bouncers, and bartenders learned that vomiting and nausea were almost always the first signs of alcohol poisoning and that unconsciousness was perhaps the most highly visible alcohol poisoning symptom or sign. The lecturer also made it a point to stress the fact that alcohol poisoning symptoms were signals from the brain and from the body that the person has ingested more alcohol than his or her body can metabolize.

There were, nonetheless, quite a few other symptoms and signs of alcohol poisoning that all the new barmaids, bartenders, and bouncers were taught to recognize. For example, the students in the class discovered that individuals with alcohol poisoning often have seizures, exhibit confusion, are difficult to awaken, and they exhibit poor reflex responses.

Not only this but, the members of the class discovered that many individuals who have alcohol poisoning also display slow, shallow or irregular breathing; little response from painful stimuli, for instance from pinching; slurred speech; and blue tinged or pale skin.

In addition, drinkers who have alcohol poisoning often exhibit an inability to make eye contact or sustain a conversation, they often display erratic behavior, they often pass out, and they usually feel very ill and exhibit excessive vomiting.

A Trainer Give Details Why An Alcohol Overdose is Not Inevitably Suffered Only by Individuals Who Are Addicted to Alcohol.

The lecturer then made it clear that alcohol poisoning is not necessarily experienced only by alcohol dependent individuals.

More specifically, the lecturer informed the members in the class that most circumstances involving alcohol poisoning were probably experienced by abusive drinkers and that a unique form of alcohol abuse known as “binge drinking” was in all probability the essential precipitating factor in most circumstances involving alcohol poisoning. The lecturer then defined binge drinking as follows: ingesting four or more alcoholic beverages at one sitting for females and drinking five or more alcoholic drinks at one sitting for males.

To demonstrate the influence that binge drinking has on alcohol poisoning, the instructor explained to the class that an individual who gets inebriated just once on an annual basis, is by definition engaging in alcohol abuse, is most likely not an alcohol dependent person, but is most likely engaging in binge drinking. As stated by the instructor, engaging in binge drinking even once, regrettably, can result in alcohol poisoning that in some cases can be fatal.

The Instructor Explains Why Letting A Person With an Alcohol Overdose Sleep is Not A Suitable Course of Action

One of the students in the class raised his hand and asked the teacher if it is a good idea to let a drinker with alcohol poisoning “sleep it off.” The teacher declared that letting a drinker with alcohol poisoning sleep is exactly what should not be done because doing so places the individual at risk since he or she is no longer being observed. Moreover, letting the person sleep when she or he experiences alcohol poisoning is a flawed response because the individual may never awaken.

The instructor then told the students in the class that the correct response for alcohol poisoning is the following: if it is suspected that a person has alcohol poisoning, call 911 and ask for immediate medical assistance, even if the person is underage. By taking this plan of action, the drinker will get the prompt alcohol poisoning medical attention he or she requires.

Conclusion

After learning about alcohol poisoning and particularly about the signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning, it may be pointed out, Frank understood that he had learned some critical information that might save an individual’s life down the road. To be sure, Frank learned that knowledge of the predictable alcohol poisoning symptoms and signs and knowing how to properly and quickly respond to such symptoms and signs (by promptly calling 911 and asking for urgent medical assistance) can help an individual avoid a lethal alcohol overdose.

Mr. Blake was one of the health teachers at a small country high school in the far Western part of the U.S. For “Alcohol Awareness Month” he arrived at a decision that he would feature the following three topics for a class assignment: alcoholism symptoms alcoholics info and alcoholism statistics.

After Mr. Blake put the final touches on the topics that would be given to his pupils, he determined that he would give them their assignment the following Friday morning.

When “assignment day” eventually arrived, Mr. Blake met with the members of his class, disseminated some appropriate statistics and facts, and then notified his class about the topics he ultimately selected.

Why It Is Imperative to Gain Knowledge and Learn How to Relate Alcoholics Info, Alcoholism Statistics, and Alcoholism Symptoms with Real-Life Situations of People Who Are Alcohol Dependent

He then gave his students an overview of some important alcoholism statistics and alcohol addiction signs and symptoms and emphasized how vital it is to figure out how to link these symbols, facts, and statistics with the real-life circumstances of people addicted to alcohol. He then gave the students in his class a short and to the point articulation about the significance of learning more about alcoholics and how they perform their activities on a daily basis.

Mr. Blake informed his pupils that they could isolate on one of the three topics or talk about all three topics and how they are interlinked. Essentially this would be comparable to a basic overview but done in a more far-reaching fashion.

Another alternative that he offered to his pupils was the following: take a topic such as alcohol dependency signs and symptoms, dig into things in a more inclusive manner, and then go over two or three symptoms and signs. Mr. Blake then stated that the same rationale applies to the other two topics, namely, alcoholism statistics and alcoholics info.

The end result of their study would be a fifteen thousand word research project and then a fifteen minute oral presentation that would be given in front of the class.

Presenting The Outcome of An Academic Exploration at the Community Drug and Alcohol Addiction Convention

As compensation for their excellent academic attainment, the students with the top four overall grades on the composition and on the oral presentation will be encouraged to present the findings from their research at the district alcoholism and alcohol abuse convention during the last six days of June.

After the pupils were given the information about their assignment, more than a few of them raised their hands and asked for an example of a sub-topic that they could concentrate on for their project.

In reply, Mr. Blake made up his mind that he would concisely discuss three or four alcohol dependency symptoms and signs that the students could elaborate on.

As an illustration, Mr. Blake gave emphasis to the following alcohol addiction signs and symptoms: boasting and a “big shot” complex, an obsession with drinking, loss of control, and cloudy thinking.

Stating How Alcoholics Info, Alcoholism Statistics, and Alcoholism Symptoms Are Manifested in the Life of an Alcohol Addicted Person

After articulating these alcoholism symptoms and signs, Mr. Blake then informed the pupils in the class that they could do some extra examination on each symptom, gather some germane data, give a number of examples of each symptom or sign, and state how each symptom or sign manifests itself in the life of an alcohol addicted person.

As noted by Mr. Blake, due to the fact that there are more than a few alcoholism signs and symptoms to select, he stated that he was not too nervous about two or more students selecting the same signs and symptoms for their research project.

Certainly, even if more than one student was to select identical symptoms and signs, the illustrations that are linked to each sign or symptom would certainly add enough diversity to sidestep the possibility of several pupils presenting the same content.

Mr. Blake then talked about the fact that while there are quite a few alcohol addiction signs and symptoms that could be picked, the quantity of alcohol addiction statistics and facts that could be discussed were practically limitless. When the topic of alcoholics info was added to the discussion, additionally, the students understood rather promptly that the three topics would offer a vast amount of data from which to choose.

Why Mr. Blake Picked Alcoholism Statistics, Alcoholism Symptoms, and Alcoholics Info as the Topics For This Research Project

Why did Mr. Blake pick alcoholics info, alcoholism statistics, alcoholism symptoms as the topics for this research project? Mr. Blake’s expectation was that by asking all of his students to explore one or more of the three alcohol addiction topics, all the students would have a greater appreciation of a difficult yet important topic such as alcohol dependency.

Mr. Blake also thought that by boosting the comprehension of his students about the destructive outcomes of alcohol dependency and the desolate daily lives experienced by alcohol addicted individuals, his pupils might think more cautiously before they get involved in excessive and irresponsible drinking behavior.

For more than a few years alcoholism research has demonstrated the fact that there is strong linkage between alcoholism and critical health conditions.

As an illustration, in 2005, medical exploration demonstrated the fact that alcohol abuse and alcoholism cost the United States an estimated $220 billion annually. It can be emphasized that this massive alcohol-related cost was substantially more than the cost associated with cancer ($196 billion) or with obesity ($133 billion). While it is pertinent to stress these facts, it is also noteworthy to point out that an interrelationship exists between all three of these health problems.

More to the point, chronic alcohol abuse and alcohol addiction are also highly associated with obesity and with cancer.

Indeed, substance abuse research has shown that alcoholism can amplify the risk for different kinds of cancer, especially cancer of the esophagus, kidneys, throat, rectum, liver, voice box (larynx), and the colon. Heavy and recurring drinking can also result in immune system difficulties and injury to the fetus during pregnancy.

Heavy Drinking Breaks Down the Problem Drinker’s Systems and Organs

Additionally, if alcohol addiction continues over a period of years, the individual’s body organs will more likely than not be affected in an unsafe manner. For instance, long-term, hazardous drinking is especially dangerous to the liver due to the fact that the liver does most of the work of processing the alcohol that has been consumed. Excessive amounts of alcohol kills liver cells and destroys the ability of liver cells to redevelop. This medical circumstance results in a progressive inflammatory malfunction of the liver that can ultimately lead to cirrhosis of the liver, a dangerous and potentially deadly medical problem.

Abusive, long-term drinking not only can result in critical liver damage, but it can also lead to damage to the heart and to the brain. Physical damage this serious may be irrepairable and may, in turn, lead to serious llness or an untimely death.

The Importance of Alcohol Treatment

It is imperative, therefore, to know how to recognize the various alcohol addiction signs and symptoms so that the alcohol dependent individual can be given the opportunity to get the quality alcohol counseling he or she needs.

Alcohol Addiction and Sophisticated Brain Exploration

Fortunately, medical examination is constantly finding original and significant information. Recent alcoholism exploration offers an excellent illustration. More to the point, for approximately the past ten years, complicated brain-imaging scanning devices have demonstrated that continuous and chronic irresponsible drinking alters the configuration of the brain to a great extent, as a consequence resulting in brain disease that can last months, years, or perchance as long as the individual lives.

More explicitly, medical exploration has revealed that individuals who have been drinking in an irresponsible manner for a sizeable length of time increase their risk for developing lasting and significant modifications in the brain.

This type of damage may be indirectly associated with the drinker’s poor overall health or directly related to the alcohol’s effects on the brain or to severe liver disease.

Excessive Drinking, Malnutrition, and Mental Disorders

As a final illustration of assorted health problems that are largely associated with alcohol dependency, take into consideration the fact that in accordance with scientific examination, the abusive and repeated abuse of alcohol can lead to erosive gastritis, a health problem that diminishes the absorption of minerals, nutrients, and vitamins.

This kind of organ malfunctioning is related to malnutrition and to a number of acute neurological and mental syndromes including sleep disturbances, memory loss, and psychosis such as Wernicke’s Encephalopathy and Korsakoff’s syndrome. This latter medical condition is a lasting debilitating medical condition that is typified by repetitive learning and memory problems.

Conclusion

It is clear that repetitive, abusive drinking is directly or indirectly correlated with numerous critical medical conditions that can and do result in serious diseases and premature death. Such information needs to be stressed and presented to everyone in our society so that a massive amount of individuals will be able to refrain from excessive drinking while others who have a drinking problem will get the professional rehabilitation they need.
