Hypnotic Conversation – the True Force of Words Unveiled

Conversational hypnosis may seem almost magical when you first encounter it.  The ability of someone skilled with this technique to influence people at will seems almost unbelievable.

However when you look study it, you realize that conversational hypnosis is just a very specific use of words that allows the speaker to bypass the conscious mind of the listener and speak directly to their subconscious.

Most people normally learn this pattern of speech, so when we first witness its effectiveness it seems astonishing. In a way, reporting on the results of conversational hypnosis is like demonstrating a light switch to someone who had never heard of electricity.

It’s generally acknowledged that this hypnotic technique started with Dr Milton Erickson. He cured people simply by telling stories.

If you’re curious about this history, visit Conversational Hypnosis – a Rebel’s Secret.

One challenge was that Dr. Erickson’s technique sprang from who is was. no one was certain just how he did what he did.

However, notes and tapes were available. Meticulous study of these records have led to some understanding of what was going on.

Maybe the most surprising thing about this technique is that it doesn’t require any elaborate setup. The hypnotist just speaks in a way that at first seem normal, but a trance results just the same.

Our minds follow rules laws.  Conversational hypnosis takes advantage of these rules to have its effect.

Here’s a very simplified example.

The conscious mind hears negatives (for example :no” and “don’t” but the subconscious mind doesn’t.

If I say “Don’t walk in the flower bed” what picture do you get in your mind? An image of a person, maybe you, walking in a flower bed. The negative word at the beginning of the sentence didn’t change that.

Compare that to “Walk on the garden path.” The difference is clear.

A skilled conversational hypnotist can use this psychological fact to hypnotize even someone who claims to be resistant.

Previous hypnotic methods might use a script giving suggestions like “Now relax your arms, now your shoulders,…” To which the resistant person says “No I won’t”. Their resistance is fully engaged.

Now consider someone saying: “Don’t relax any more quickly and easily than feels comfortable.” Since the hypnotist used the word don’t the resistant listener has nothing to push against  With the resistance now at easethe subconscious is available to suggestions like let the tension ease from your body.

Naturally this is a simple example.  Even so I think it indicates.

In the past, it has been impossible to learn this hypnotic technique.  Enough qualified teachers just weren’t available and their courses were only sporadically available..

That’s no longer the case.  Click this link to find out more about Conversational Hypnosis, including where you can find out how to do it.
