Feb 2009 Author: Adrianna Vines Colour is a big part of so many peoples’ lives. It is a big part of having an understanding of Feng Shui. It affects how light illuminates in a certain space inside a house. It affects the mood and provides various perceptions to the people seeing it. Fung Shui is more of balancing the yin and yang in a certain space. The colours in a given space exude various energies that correspond to the yin and the yang. If you desire energy you will simply need to use cool pastel colors. While warm and bright colors that are often bold and masculine falls under yang energy. Taking the concept of Colour Fung Shui to an energy-balanced home, certain colors need to be included in certain areas. The result we want to achieve is to have a stronger chi in a specific part of that house that needs it. Explaining the use of colors is easy and simple and then where in the house you use them. White – signifies knowledge, motivation and quick and sharp thinking. This should be found in the Northeast area of the house. Black – associated with intimacy, practicality and realism, this should be in the Southwest part of the house. Responsibility will come easily when you use the color of silver or grey along with control and being organized. This should be in the Northwest part of the house. Using the neutral creme color can bring a sense of independence and sexuality but should only be used in the northern par to the house. Pink – shows contentment, playfulness and romance. This should be found on the West side of the house. Blue / Dark Green – shows creativity, imagination, new ideas and sensitivity. This should be present in the Southeast side of the house. The center of a room needs to be yellow and when using this color you will bring opportunities your way. Bright Green – shows ambition, enthusiasm, confidence and self-esteem. This color should be in the East side of the house. Purple – incorporate this in a space on the south side of the house to boost passion, intellect, emotion and sociability. Our home is where we need to understand the use of color and how each color relates to us. You can also incorporate colors through objects and decors that are less permanent. Furnitures having colors stated above could work well to bring in good energy inside a house. Many of us don’t realize how easy it is to change accents to bring about amazing changes to our space. Aside from the things mentioned about, one could also implement Colour Feng Shui through the use of fabrics. Using curtains and drapes you can decorate any space. Cushioning of couches or pillows could also make up for the colours needed in a particular part of the house. Not only would these things contribute to a good Colour Feng Shui but it can even beautify any space in your house. The application of Colour Fung Shui is not restricted to a house or a particular place. It can also be used in a person’s day-to-day living. Since colors stimulate the senses and create various emotions, the Feng Shui of colours could also apply to what a person wears. Having vertical lines in your wardrobe or wearing green can boost confidence and makes someone more assertive. Pairing red clothes with metallic accessories increases energy and attracts attention. Brown or yellow clothes give more compassion. Using green will help in being more creative and also with your communication skills. Loose and white and cream clothes provide inner peace and help a person relax. Colour Fung Shui provides a lot of benefits for people. Not everyone believes in its power but there is no harm in trying. |
